Moroccans living abroad made deposits of MAD 208.9 billion with Moroccan banks in January 2025, which contributed to a rise in household deposits as a whole.
The “Tableau de bord des crédits et dépôts bancaires” recently published by the “Banque du Maroc” shows total deposits with banks at MAD 1,241 billion, with annual growth of 7.6 per cent.
Furthermore, the growing trend seen in remittances sent by Moroccans living abroad is expected to continue in 2025, as the Office des Changes recorded a slight increase in January of this year, reaching over 9.45 billion dirhams, versus 9.4 billion dirhams in January 2024.
