Thursday, 07 May 2015

The kickoff of the first Forum of the Ivorian Diaspora was given on Thursday 7 May in Abidjan by the Ivorian President, Alassane Ouattara, with the central aim of sharing the experiences of African countries, including Morocco, to develop future policy management of Ivorians abroad.

Speaking at the panel "Representation of the Diaspora: visions of Morocco, Mali, Senegal and Ivory Coast," Mr. Driss Ajbali, a leading member of the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME) gave an introductory presentation of the "40 years of Moroccan immigration policy."

Mr. Ajbali therefore exposed the creation steps of the CCME, its advisory role and experience, and said on behalf of the council to be ready to share it with the brotherly country of Ivory Coast. Indeed, the CCME and the Ministry of African Integration and Ivorians abroad had recently signed, to this effect, a cooperation agreement in the field of management of the Diaspora.

The forum to be held on May 7 and 8 was attended on its first day by more than 300 Ivorian expatriates and many leaders from around the world.
