Mr. Abdellah Boussouf: "We must preserve the memory of immigration and introduce it in our system of education

The Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME) held on Monday, April 18, 2016, a press conference to present the exhibition "Moroccans: migrants and travelers" that will be held from April 20 to May 20 at the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco (BNRM).

In his opening speech, Mr. Abdellah Boussouf, General Secretary of the CCME stressed "the importance of preserving the memory of Moroccan immigration, because it is part of the national memory", inviting "the Ministry of Education to introduce the history of immigration in its books".

Mr. Boussouf said that "what distinguishes Morocco, is its strategic geographical position, its ethnic mix, cultural and religious institutionalised since 2011 in the Moroccan Constitution. This is the reason why this exhibition  will be highlighted in all its splendor  with a book  of the the same title  made by the CCME. "

"We collected documents and photos of libraries around the world to produce this book and we felt proud to be Moroccans when we realized the historical richness of our country," said Mr. Boussouf.

« This exhibition comes at at the right time because the media tend to mistakenly link Moroccan immigration and terrorism : in this case, the Paris ans Brussels attacks. The book we are presenting today are prove that terrorism and violence have never been part of the history of Morocco who has always been a peaceful country. "

The press conference was also an opportunity to present to journalists the latest CCME publications, including a series of booklets that history shows the dimensions of the Moroccan personality as cited in the 2011 Constitution and the importance of the role of women in the history of the Kingdom. The aim of the  booklets is to give  young people at young people, especially the immigrant an idea of the History of their origin country. They  will be translated into several languages ​​and selled in European libraries.

Mr. Boussouf has also emphasized the importance of immigration in the defense of  great historical moments of humanity, its role in the war against Nazism and fascism, for example, or the independence of Morocco. Adding forcefully that Moroccans of the world still continue to support the great causes of Morocco particulary for its sovereignty.
