Conference : “the Rif at the heart of migration"

The Aghbal Association for Development and Solidarity (ADS) organized on August 3, 2017, in collaboration with the Dialogue Association in the Netherlands, the Council of the Moroccan Community Living Abroad (CCME) and the Canton of Midar, at the multidisciplinary complex of the city, the second meeting of Aghbal under the theme "the Rif at the heart of migration".

The conference on "The role of migration in the development of the Rif region", was led by Mr Bennacer El Bouazzati, Professor of Philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Mohammed V University, Rabat, Mr Hossain Boudilab (researcher at the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture -IRCAM-) on the social impact of migration in Europe, Mr Abdellatif Maaroufi (researcher at the CCME ) on migration and development in the Rif region and Mr Mourad Jadi (researcher in cultural heritage and development) on the "migration of Moroccan from the Rif  in Algeria during the French occupation” especially on the   socio-cultural impact on that particuar migration".

The meeting scheduled the screening of the documentary film "Anâaq" on the Rif migration in Algeria and Europe, directed by Mohamed Bouzia and Kacem Achahboun. The documentary, in Arabic-language with tariffis, subtitles is a illustrates the testimonies of moroccans from the Rif region who migrated to Algeria at the beginning of the 20th century until their brutal banishment in 1976 and their migration to Europe in the early 1960s. 

An exhibition on Moroccan migration history in the Netherlands was also organized and held from 3 to 5 August in the boardwalk of the district of Midar.  According to the organizers, the meeting was attended by Moroccans from around the world in the commune of Midar, civil society actors, local authorities and elected representatives.
