Moroccan-Tunisian joint committee of Consular Affairs has recommended the simplification of administrative procedures for the benefit of the communities of the two countries, emphasizing the implementation of the agreements signed between Morocco and Tunisia in this field.
In the minutes sanctioning the work of its 13th session held on Tuesday in Tunis “in an atmosphere of friendship, mutual understanding and shared commitment to deepen existing relations between the two fraternal peoples,” the commission has called for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of consular affairs likely to achieve stability and peace for both countries’ communities.
In the area of the residence, the report points out that the Tunisian side regularized applications filed by Moroccan nationals who have resided three years in Tunisia before the year 2012, in accordance with the recommendations of the High Joint Committee.
In this respect, Morocco has reiterated its proposal to grant the Moroccan and Tunisian nationals, who entered one of the two countries after 1989, a residence permit valid for 10 years and renewable if they have benefited from this successive card twice.
Moreover, the two sides called for the meeting of security cooperation commission to strengthen bilateral relations, stressing the need to update the Memorandum of Understanding concluded between the two countries.
In employment, the two sides reiterated their commitment to intensify efforts to address the challenges that confront communities of both countries.
In this regard, the Moroccan delegation reiterated its request to exempt its nationals, holders of employment contracts, from getting an entry visa in Tunisia, under the provisions of the bilateral agreement and the principle of reciprocity.
In addition, committee members agreed to continue consultations in order to update the agreement on judicial cooperation, implement the judgments of transferring the criminals and to reactivate the cooperation protocol in the field of justice management signed between the relevant departments.
Led by the Director of Consular and Social Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mustapha El Bouazzaoui, the Moroccan delegation includes the Consul General of Morocco in Tunis, Hassan Jamal, and representatives of several sectors.
