The Council of the moroccan community living abroad (CCME) and the National Council for Human Rights (CNDH) organize a symposium on climate changes in Africa during the 22 second edition of the international meeting on climate changes (COP22) held in Marrakech from 7 to 18 november 2016.

Entitled Climate changes, New approaches, new technologies, and new opportunities : involvement of African skills at home and abroad, the symposium 

will be concentrated on the african Continent.Africa, which is one of the most impacted geographies of global warming, is a priority for Morocco from an economic, political and relational standpoint.

For the COP 22 in November 2016 in Marrakech, Africa needs to be able to rely on both its national and expatriate skills in order to provide robust ideas and recommendations for sustainable development and the fight against climate change. The establishment and strengthening of gateways between the countries of origin and host countries is key to promoting North-South and South-South cooperation.

During the course of participant conferences, the focus lay on technology transfer and strengthening the ability of the most vulnerable countries to fight against the effects of climate change.

The main objectives of this international symposium are:

– To understand the new approaches, new technologies and new opportunities in the field of climate change adaptation, mitigation and resilience in the short, medium and long term on the development process in Morocco and the countries on the continent ;

– Consider scientific and technological North-South and South-South transfer terms;

– Foster the networking of Moroccan expertise from inside and outside as well as their linkage to the skills of other African countries on the impacts of climate change in Morocco and Africa;

– Propose solutions to strengthen financial capabilities to fight against the effects of climate change in Morocco and the countries of the continent;

– Propose recommendations for new approaches, new technologies and consider new opportunities to provide Morocco and the other countries on the continent with a lasting and sustainable development, to effectively fight against the effects of climate change and to strengthen Morocco’s exemplary position on matters related to climate change, its impact and consequences.
