This Sunday is dedicated to the book “The History of Moroccans in the Netherlands” and the secular relations between Morocco and Senegal.

The first meeting will commence with Mr. Abdellatif Maaroufi’s “The History of Moroccans in the Netherlands” published in the CCME collection in 2016.

The participants :

Mr. Abdellatif Maaroufi

Researcher and Moroccan-Dutch journalist, born in 1954 in Boujad. He left Morocco in 1977 and continued his studies in Paris where he obtained a doctorate in economics at the University of Paris X. He then moved to the Netherlands and resides in Amsterdam since 1984. Abdellatif Maroufi was a consultant in old age policy for the CABO center, chief editor of the newspaper Al Mizan and journalist for many years for the Dutch radio (NOS / NPS). A long-time advocate for migrant rights, he is president of the Dakira Association, which is dedicated to the history of immigration, including its cultural and artistic aspects. Since the end of 2009, Abdellatif Maroufi has been in charge of the mission of the Council of the Moroccan community abroad. In 2016, he published in the CCME collection a book entitled “History of Moroccans in the Netherlands”.

M.Kacem Achahboune

Born in Tetouan in 1961, he obtained his DEA at Mohammed V University in Rabat. During his career in the Netherlands, he held a number of functions, including an Arabic language teacher and then a leader in the Federation of Muslim Seniors. Kacem Achahboune was founding member and Secretary General of the Islamic University of Rotterdam until 2001. Currently, he is President of the Dialogue Foundation for Moroccan-Dutch Friendship. In parallel, he regularly acts as an active player in regional and national organizations. In 2015, he translated “Yemma” from Dutch into Arabic in the CCME collection and co-directed the documentary Ânaq in 2017.

Mr. M’Hamed El Oufrassi

M’Hamed El Oufrassi was born in Tafensa, province of Al Hoceima, and lives in Amsterdam, President of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights in the Netherlands (KMM) from 2003 to 2007, he contributed to the organization of numerous associative activities in the Netherlands and Morocco, in the fields of migration and development. A former member of the UNEM Union of the National union of the Moroccan students), he is currently a member of the NAP (New Amsterdam Plan) group, which is responsible for providing the municipality of Amsterdam with advice on the application of the Social Support Act. He graduated from the Amsterdam High School, and practices in the field of public health. M’Hamed El Ouafrassi is a member of the Council of the Moroccan community abroad.

Mr. Robert Hartogh

Photographer in the Netherlands. Dutch photographer born in 1942, he became interested in the life of immigrants in the Netherlands since the seventies. The beginning of his photography career coincides with the concept of “guest workers”. He is interested in topics of confession, education, family life and working conditions of immigrants. Robert de Hartogh also regularly visited countries of origin of such migrants as Morocco and Turkey. His archives thus provide a complete and unique picture of an important period in Dutch history. His photos were recently studied for the publication of History of Moroccans in the Netherlands: Presence & Memory published by the CCME in 2017.

The second meeting takes us back to the history of our continent through “Ancient Relations, secular friendship and multiform cooperation between Morocco and Senegal”.

The participants :

Mr.Sidi Mohamed Farssi

State Doctor of Science, Director of the Doctoral School of Telecommunications of the University of Dakar. Professor at the Polytechnic School of Dakar, President of the National Council of Moroccans in Senegal (CNMS) and Director of the Research Laboratory in Imaging and Bio-Computer Science. He is a member of the Council of the Moroccan community abroad.

Mr.Sabah Bengeloune

is a Moroccan-Senegalese historian and actress born in Saint-Louis, Senegal. Vice-president, in charge of the communication of the National Council of Moroccans in Senegal, she is active in the civil society and particularly in the Moroccan community. Sabah Bengeloune is in charge, by the city of Saint-Louis in Senegal of the revitalization of the twinning between this city and the city of Fes in Morocco.

Ms. Fatma Guenoun

She was born in Dakar, from parents native of Senegal. Specialist in Cancerology, she is also an actress for the feminine cause. Guenoun Fatma is vice-president of the Council of Moroccans in Senegal in charge of Women and Children.

Mr. Ali Yaddas

He was born in Dakar of Sahrawi parents. He is among the first Moroccan traders in Senegal. Ali Yaddas Sahraoui is an economic operator and president of the Sahara Youth Club in Africa.

Mr Mamadou Mignane Diouf

He pursued a training in philosophy and human sciences at the Cheikh-Anta-Diop University of Dakar (UCAD) in Senegal. Mamadou Mignane Diouf is coordinator of the Senegalese Social Forum and coordinator of the Senegalese platform “Migration and Rights of Displaced Persons”. He is also a member of the National Trade Negotiations Committee (WTO / EU / ACP-ECOWAS) and former member of the NGO Board of Directors. He is the author of many articles and contributions.

Mr. Mamadou Goita

Executive Director of IRPAD / Africa. Mamadou Goita is a socio-economist of development and specialist in education and training systems of Mali, West Africa. He was Executive Secretary of West African Farmers and Farmers Networks (ROPPA) from 2011 to 2012. He worked with UNICEF in Mali, the United Nations Development Program in Togo and Burkina Faso and several NGOs, including including ACORD (Regional Director for the West Africa and Africa Program) and OXFAM Belgium (Regional Coordinator for West Africa based in Burkina Faso).
