The Florence Police Headquarters has announced, in multiple languages, an exceptional opening of the immigration office this Saturday for the issuance of residence permits, including for those without a prior appointment. This measure aims to address the increasing number of requests. Beneficiaries will be able to collect their entry numbers between 8:00 and 9:30 AM.

This exceptional initiative comes in response to recent protests by associations and unions against lengthy bureaucratic delays, which leave migrants in an irregular situation despite being eligible for permits. These delays hinder their access to employment and housing.

Protesters have denounced the increasing wait times and the inefficiency of the digital procedures implemented since 2019, making it difficult for migrants to obtain clear answers, especially regarding unaccompanied minors and international protection requests, which can experience delays of several months.
