After studying in France, Spain and China, Faiza Hajji, telecommunications engineer, is the first Moroccan to integrate the entrepreneurship program “Start-Up” in Chile, thanks to her strong extensive experience in microfinance and development in Mexico, Sri Lanka and Malaysia.
Following the call for proposals launched by the Chilean government program for the benefit of entrepreneurs and project leaders around the world, Mrs. Hajji was the only Moroccan chosen to join the “Start-Up Chile” from hundreds of candidates from around the world.
“It was a very rewarding experience both professionally and personally. I learned a lot by being immersed in the fabulous world of start-ups with entrepreneurs from around the world, but also on the ecosystem of Chile “, told to MAP Mrs. Hajji, part of the 6th promotion of” Start-Up Chile “, a program to promote entrepreneurship and an economic model based on innovation.
In this regard, she stated that Start-Up Chile, considered as a unique accelerator in the world, “an initiative of the Chilean government, which aims to advance the culture of entrepreneurship and innovation in the countries of South America and create links with other technological hubs in the world, is attracting entrepreneurs from around the world selected not on the basis of nationality but according to their ideas. “
After noting that the program has met since its launch in 2010, over 1,000 entrepreneurs from all over the world (on average over 1,500 applications, 100 projects are selected), Mrs. Hajji explained that “Start-Up Chile” offers holders of innovative projects, a start-up capital, work visas of a year, housing in Santiago and a network of mentors to develop their projects.
Mrs. Hajji also stressed that the project launched locally in Chile, aims to grow in Latin America and Morocco initially before expanding to other countries.
Mrs. Hajji has founded in 2008, the “Association of Dr. Fatiha”, named after her late mother in order to assist vulnerable women in rural areas and inner-city youth in projects dedicated to making environmental protection an engine of the local economy.
