The activities of the Spanish-Moroccan Cultural Day started on Tuesday in Madrid on the theme “a vision from both sides.”
The event, initiated by the Foundation Casa Arabe (Arab House) working under the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Morocco in Spain, aims to create an opportunity for exchange of ideas and experiences among stakeholders in both countries to share a common vision on how to maintain and even further strengthen bilateral cultural relations.
The day was marked by a conference entitled “Dialogue of cultures, cultural and religious diversity”, led by Lamia Radi, director of Cooperation and Cultural Action, Department of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, who emphasized in her speech the importance of openness to others and the need to explore various cultures.
On this occasion, Ms. Radi said Morocco, which has always been characterized by its cultural diversity while remaining united, strong, moderate and open, aims to further strengthen its cooperative relations with its neighbors and with all countries of the world at bilateral and multilateral levels.
She, in this context stressed the importance of relying on youth in achieving this goal through providing them with adequate modern training, which accompanies the current changes, and the means and tools to allow their good integration into life and society.
Ms. Radi highlighted in this context, the efforts made by Morocco under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, in the religious, social and cultural fields, stressing the importance accorded to the intangible wealth and the many cultural infrastructure made in the Kingdom during the last decade, such as the museum of Modern Art and the anticipated construction of the National Higher Institute of Music and choreographic arts in Rabat, and other projects in this field.
The program for this cultural event also included a conference under the theme “story of two people who complement”, which will be hosted by the Moroccan university professor Mohamed Dahiri, from the Complutense University of Madrid.
This day will be marked by the screening of the feature film ‘Goodbye Carmen’ directed by Mohamed Amine Benamraoui, awarded in several international festivals, and will be concluded with a concert by the Moroccan performer living in Spain, Hakim.
Founded in 2006, Casa Arabe aims to promote dialogue and debate between the Arab world and Spain, through cultural exchange. It also works to strengthen ties between different civilizations in all areas through academic, political, economic, cultural and educational activities.
