Tunis, — Some 814 illegal immigration attempts by sea were thwarted by the border police last year, the Interior Ministry announced, Tuesday, in a statement.
Moreover, 240 attempts to leave the country with forged documents were also aborted.
During the same year of 2014, the border police seized 117 weapons and not less than 8,042 ammunitions during attempts to introduce weapons in the Tunisian territory, the Ministry further said.
Different sums of cash money were seized, particularly 401,795 euros, 117,650 dollars and 33,000 Tunisian dinars.
Besides, 18 archaeological pieces were intercepted, mostly, in Monastir airport.
The border police arrested 4,778 wanted individuals.
