Poland resists mandatory immigration quota

Tuesday, 23 June 2015

The Polish government is more and more firmly opposed to the mandatory migrant settlement quotas proposed by the EU in the light of increasing number of immigrants from Syria and Eritrea.

Poland, along with several other countries, would like the mandatory quota to be introduced only if the European Council approves it at the EU summit via consensus, which makes the implementation almost impossible. The issue will be discussed at the EU summit next week.
