The Council of the moroccan Community iving Abroad (CCME) organized a press conference Thursday 10 november 2016 in Marrakech, on "climate changes in Africa ».
The chairman of the CCME’s working group « Scientific, technical and economic competences for solid development », Mr Faouzi Lakhdar Ghazali, said at the beginning of the meeting : » We had already expressed the wish to highlight the climate issue of the African continent at the COP21. We are now ready to make of this COP22 the conference an action for Africa " adding that" the contribution of the African disapora will be crucial to reach this goal".
"The symposium has been possible thanks to the help of several competences of the African diaspora, especially the Moroccan one. It’s ambition is to recommend actions that will make the difference throughout the Moroccan presidency of the COP22".
Mr. LAKHDAR GHAZAL, said that the goals of the symposium, are to catalyze the African diasporas on climate changes, prepare the African diasporas on the challenges of the continent, create the mechanisms for their involvement and to ascribe the foundations for an African competence network that will extend its action after the COP22.
The program includes two plenaries on the 11th and 12th of November.
More than a hundred scientists, researchers, policy-makers and university presidents from Morocco, Zambia, Senegal, Mali, Uganda, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Canada, are attended for the symposium.
