Souad Elmallem, a success story in aeronautics

Souad Elmallem is one of those women who succeeded in what was once a field strictly reserved for men: aeronautics. Chief Representative of Bombardier Aerospace and of Strategy and International Business Development, Africa, Originally from Casablanca, Souad Elmallem has moved to Canada where she settled and started a family.

In recognition of her contribution to the development of the aviation sector in Morocco, His Majesty King Mohammed VI has decorated her with the Royal Wissam of Grand National Merit. In September 30, 2013, His Majesty inaugurated in Nouaceur, an industrial platform dedicated to careers in aeronautics and space Midparc, which contains the first plant of the Canadian manufacturer aircraft "Bombardier" in Africa.

After studying law in Morocco, Souad Elmallem moved to Canada to get her Bachelor degree in Commerce from HEC, University of Montreal. In 1998, Ms. Elmallem graduated in Business Administration (BBA) mixed in Operations Management and Production and Information System.

Her career kicked off at Nortel Networks / FCI Connectors division, where she managed a team of business analysts in the implementation of MFG-Pro and then the implementation of a quality system in North America.

In 2001, the young woman joined Bombardier Aerospace Canada to lead the initiative in defining and implementing manufacturing and Information System Bombardier (GBIF) for the Quality team and Operations team at Mirabel and St. Lawrence.

From 2005, she shifted her interest towards strategic planning and governance for Information Technology (IT) to develop the strategic direction and IT customer relationship. She went on with the development of integrated IT strategies to support the management team.

Her great sense of curiosity about the evolution of aviation in North Africa, her strong leadership in developing business combined with her ability to complete strategic initiatives successfully enabled Souad Elmallem to be appointed, in 2011 as the Chief Representative in support of business units of Bombardier.

She’s in charge of establishing and implementing regional development strategies for Bombardier Aerospace and Bombardier Transportation, creating and managing a strong network of relationships with governments as well as strategic actors, and supporting all activities in the region. This mandate has recently been extended to the whole of Africa.

Souad Elmallem is also a founding member of Women In Aerospace - Africa since 2013 WIA is an association that aims to improve the visibility of women in aerospace and to increase their opportunities in the field of management.
