Nora El Hourch, born in 1988 to a French mother and a Moroccan father, has been shaped by both cultures, which have influenced her worldview. Her short film A Few Seconds, selected for Cannes (Quinzaine des Réalisateurs) in 2015, depicts the struggles of five girls in a women’s shelter in Paris as they work to overcome their past traumas. The film received critical acclaim, winning the Best Short Film award in Stockholm and the Golden Pram in Zagreb, and was screened at prestigious festivals such as Toronto and SXSW.
In her films, Nora portrays characters from minority backgrounds and addresses themes like social inequality, injustice, and the role of women in society. Sisterhood (also known as AMINA) is her first feature film.
