The Council of the Moroccan Community living Abroad (CCME), took part in the first Global Forum on Migration Statistics in Paris, on 15 and 16 January 2018, organized by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Department of Economic and Social Affairs United Nations (DESA).
More than 500 participants from 80 countries, examined innovations in data collection and the capacity building in developing countries to produce and improve migration statistics. They reviewed the approaches of migration, the handling of data on migration movement to contribute to improve public policy development for the protection of migrants’ rights.
Workshops were also organised on the Moroccan experience in regular and periodic population polls including migrants. Morocco’s efforts, labeled by the United Nations as a host country for the World Solidarity and Secure Migration Project negotiations, were also highlighted.
