The Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad wrapped up this Sunday, February 22, 2015, its seventh participation in the Casablanca book and edition fair (SIEL).
A Successful edition that brought together under the theme “Migration, diversity, citizenship: the challenge of living together”, thousands of visitors and held around forty conferences and discussions led by one hundred and fifty authors, journalists, researchers and civil society actors from twenty countries.
Each speaker shed light through his background and expertise on issues of identity crises, challenges of living together, concerns and expectations of the Moroccan community abroad and the management of cultural diversity in spaces of immigration.
So many questions that concern all of humanity to build a better future.
All the debates were live streamed via the council’s website and were followed by a audience in Morocco and abroad.
The Pavilion of the Council was adorned by three exhibitions. The first sets through calligraphy, the importance that His Majesty King Mohammed VI in his speeches and royal message, give to the Moroccans of the world.
The second, entitled Shared Words, is the result of a work done with high school students from France and Morocco around thirty universal values among others, advocating acceptance of others, respect and tolerance.
The third exhibition is an Atlas of the Moroccans of the world, published by the CCME at the SIEL; a pioneer project in collaboration with researchers from the University of Agadir.
In addition to that, four new titles were presented this year: Portraits of 50 Moroccans journalists of the world in partnership with the weekly Al Ayyam, the journeys of Moroccans in Spain, in collaboration with Hespress, the Arabic translation of the novel Yemma and the image of Islam in Europe: How to get out of stereotypes? (Conference proceedings) as well as violence in the history of Morocco (conference proceedings).
Other works have been supported by the CCME in particular, Fine Names of God (calligraphic art book), Brussels, the Moroccan (collective work) and Women and religion.
The Council has signed two partnership agreements with the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (University Abdelmalek Essaadi of Tetouan) and the Faculty of Governance, Economic and Social Sciences of the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic. The aim is to promote cooperation between academia and the CCME on issues related to Moroccan migration.
The youth mornings were a success with the project shared words; Six hundred students from thirteen colleges, high schools and orphanages from Kenitra, Rabat, Casablanca and the region took part in role plays and scenarios around the living together and coexistence.
The CCME has ended its participation in the SIEL by organizing a tribute to mothers of immigration. Eleven dedicated mothers spoke to share their stories marked by sacrifice, altruism, women who gave birth to a generation of Moroccans and worked hard on their integration into their host society while maintaining links with their country of origin.
