On Friday, 18 April 2025, the presidents of the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME), the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE), the Institution of the Ombudsman of the Kingdom (IRM), the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA), the Competition Council (CC), the National Authority for Integrity, Prevention and the Fight against Corruption (INPPLC), the National Commission for the Protection of Personal Data (CNDP), and the Commission for the Right of Access to Information (CDAI) officially inaugurated their shared pavilion at the International Publishing and Book Fair (SIEL) in Rabat.
In a speech delivered during the inauguration, Ms Latifa Akharbach, President of HACA, praised the initiative of establishing a shared pavilion, through which these institutions aim to highlight their roles and strengthen their presence as independent governance bodies working in the public interest. She emphasised the importance of engaging with citizens and involving them in the work of these institutions within the framework of active citizenship.
For his part, Mr Driss El Yazami, President of the CCME, stated in a press release that “the council’s participation in this shared pavilion alongside institutions dedicated to protecting rights and freedoms, good governance, human and sustainable development, and participatory democracy for the second consecutive time reflects a commitment to a shared mission of strengthening Moroccan democracy, rights, and citizen participation.” He explained, “The CCME’s participation in the 30th edition of SIEL is particularly significant, as, in addition to its presence alongside the aforementioned institutions, the council is also featured in a joint stand with the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, which this year pays tribute to Moroccans living abroad.”
By uniting in a shared pavilion, the seven institutions aim to enhance their visibility, underscore their central role in the national institutional landscape, promote a culture of participation and active citizenship, and foster dialogue with SIEL visitors. Furthermore, the heads of the participating institutions will hold a communication event on Saturday, 26 April 2025, at 12:30 in the Ofoq – A1 room, to present their recent publications and engage with the public on their visions and priorities.
