Abdellah BOUSSOUF, CCME General Secretary

Boussouf Abdellah, a historian, defended his doctoral thesis on relations in the Mediterranean basin in the 13th century in 1991.

In 1993, he was president of the association of the Impasse de Mai mosque in Strasbourg. He was responsible for the construction of Strasbourg’s Grand Mosque. It was the first place designed from the outset for Muslim worship in Strasbourg. Boussouf put the project to the vote in the European Parliament in November 1996.

In 2002, he was elected Vice-Chairman of the Conseil Français du Culte Musulman (CFCM).

In 2006, he moved to Belgium to study at the Institute of Islamic Studies in Brussels. He has also held the position of Director of the Euro-Islamic Center for Culture and Dialogue, based in Charleroi (Belgium).

In 2007, he was appointed by His Majesty as Secretary General of the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME). A position he holds to this day.

Boussouf advocates moderate Islam and open dialogue between religions and civilizations. In his many national and international speeches, Boussouf never ceased to invite people to discover the Other and to come together.
