Rabat; The Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communications – Department of Culture – announced the call for applications to support publishing and book projects for the year 2025.
This year’s support programme, which will be open from 11 March to 4 April, will place particular focus on projects involving the translation of Moroccans from abroad, in recognition of their contribution to promoting cultural diplomacy and the culture of their country of origin, as well as their precious contribution to enhancing intercultural dialogue through their literary work in various cultural fields, the ministry announced in a press release.
Applications will also be opened up to Moroccan authors’ bestsellers, in the form of paperbacks, giving priority to Arabic-language novels, in line with the ministry’s efforts to make culture more accessible and encourage reading by bringing books to a larger number of readers at prices they can afford, the statement said.
The Ministry’s efforts to democratise culture and encourage reading by making books accessible to a greater number of readers at affordable prices are also being pursued, the press release notes.
Support covers a number of areas, including book publishing, the editing of cultural magazines, the creation and modernisation of electronic cultural magazines, participation in international book fairs, adapted publishing for the visually disabled, as well as providing support for bookstores (creation, modernising and promoting) and the participation of local Moroccan literary figures in authors’ residencies, it adds.
All applications will have to be submitted online via the dedicated platform, accessible at the e-mail address http://daam.minculture.gov.ma, set up by the ministry to this end, according to the same source.
Furthermore, this platform will also enable project applicants to access the project specifications and user guide, as part of the effort to facilitate administrative procedures and improve services.
