The mother figure in the literature

An artistic conference one would call it as lute was played throughout by Kamal El Mimouni in a meeting organized by the CCME Pavilion with Samira Ayachi and Maram El Masri to talk about “the mother in literature”.

This exchange was mainly focused on reading extracts of books and poems that deal with this subject and highlight the different roles played by the mother in both the family and in the society of the country of origin or the host country.

Samira El Ayachi, a writer based in Lille, her second novel ‘Forty days after my death’ is published by Editions de l’Aube. In 2014 she founded a nomadic literary festival “the origin of the worlds” which dedicated its first edition to the Mother fig.ure

Maram al-Masri is a Syrian poet and translator living in Paris. She was born in the city of Latakia in 1962 and studied English literature at the University of Damascus, before settling in France since 1984. Considered one of the most famous female voices of her generation, hier collection “I threaten you with a white dove” was released in 1984.

In 1987, her second collection, “Red cherry on a white tile” was published by Editions Tunis Gold of Time. Honored with the Adonis prize, her poetry is critically acclaimed by Arab and international countries and translated into many languages
