Mr Driss Yazami, the president of the Council of the Moroccan Community abroad (CCME), hosted on Thursday 13 March 2025, a delegation from the State Committee for Cooperation with the Azerbaijani Community, which is on a working visit to Morocco.

The CCME president gave a comprehensive definition of the Council’s work as a consultative institution mandated with analysing public policies relating to Moroccans abroad, making recommendations and studying Moroccan communities’ situations and their contribution to development.He stressed that the Council attaches particular importance to strengthening cultural ties with the Moroccan community abroad, which has undergone fundamental transformations such as globalisation, feminisation, youth, rootedness in host societies, and the high percentage of qualified people among its members.

Having emphasised the cultural diversity of the rich literature of Moroccans abroad, the President of the CCME outlined the challenges relating to the mobility of expertise and their involvement in the country’s various development projects. As well as providing scientific knowledge on migration in the absence of studies in the countries of the South on migration research. He also mentioned the possibility of joint cooperation with the Azerbaijani Working Committee in the field of scientific research on diasporas and the development of common knowledge.

For his part, the Chairman of the State Committee for Work with the Azerbaijani Diaspora, Mr. Fuad Mouradov, gave an overview of the work of the Committee, which operates within the government framework in order to strengthen the ties between the State of Azerbaijan and its communities abroad via a range of programmes. These include cultural, sporting and artistic activities, summer camps and language courses for the children of migrants.
