The Moroccan “Goumiers,” the soldiers attached to the French Army of Africa will get their monument in the Place Denys Cochin, in Paris, 70 years after the end of world war II.

The monument will witness the support of the Moroccan soldiers who played a decisive role in the liberation of the Mediterranean island of Corsica during the Vichy Regime. The Moroccan Goumiers participated to the battle of Paris, the capital of France and several other cities during the second world war.

The French president François Hollande said during the tribute that “they will never fade from memory”.
