Successful participation of the CCME in the first Forum of the Ivorian Diaspora

The Council of the Moroccan community abroad (CCME) successfully concluded its participation in the first Forum of the Ivorian Diaspora organized by the Ministry of African Integration and Ivorians from the outside, on 7 and 8 May in Abidjan.

The strong involvement of the Council, a partner of the Forum, was visible through a stand which hosted one hundred participants coming to discover the action of the CCME since its inception, and the sixty publications and books on immigration edited by the Council and presented at the event, reads a statement of the CCME.

At the panel "Representation of Diaspora: visions of Morocco, Mali, Senegal and Ivory Coast", the Council hosted a presentation regarding the Moroccan experience on the management of its immigration. Thus, the history of Moroccan migration policy was narrated in addition to the procedures behind the creation of the council and the work accomplished ever since. Emphasis has also been placed on the humanistic approach to migration as advocated by HM King Mohammed VI.

This event was also marked by official talks between the President of Ivory Coast, Alassane Ouattara and the General Secretary of the CCME, Mr. Abdellah Boussouf.

Similarly, fifty Moroccans living in Ivory Coast, particularly in Abidjan were invited to dinner by the CCME at a Gala ceremony marking the closing of the Forum.

The successful participation of the CCME reflects the strong ties that bind Morocco to African countries, particularly Ivory Coast, the statement said, stressing the pride of the Council to be associated with this event and its desire to provide all the necessary support to this brotherly country in its project to develop the future policy of management of Ivorian expatriates.

According to the Minister for Integration and Ivorians outside, Ally Coulibaly, "Morocco's participation in the Forum is the testimony of a friendship so deep and sincere that we want eternal."

The opening ceremony of the first Forum of the Ivorian Diaspora was chaired by President Ouattara, in the presence of more than 300 Ivorians living abroad, several foreign delegations, members of the Ivorian government, parliamentarians, embassies, members of assemblies and councils and several political and economic personalities.
