France: Shots fired at a mosque in Carpentras

A mosque in Carpentras (Vaucluse), under construction and completion phase was the target of shots fired in the night from Sunday 7 to Monday, June 8, announced the Union of Mosques of France (UMF) in a statement.

Mohammed Moussaoui, president of the UMF, condemned"with great force this cowardly attack that targeted a place of prayer and meditation, a few days away from the holy month of Ramadan" and "calls on Muslims of France to be careful of such threats and asked the authorities to make every effort to identify and arrest the perpetrators of this despicable act. "

Previously, in October 2013, racist inscriptions were discovered on the surrounding wall of another mosque in the city.
