Anwar Kbibech, new president of the French Council of the Muslim Faith

The Franco-Moroccan engineer Anwar Kbibech, 53, will succeed to Dalil Boubakeur as president of the French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM), for a period of two years.

Following the elections of the CFCM's office in 2013, the presidency was to be ensured by Dalil Boubakeur from 30 June 2013 to 30 June 2015, will succeed to him Anwar Kbibech June 30, 2015 to June 30, 2017 and is to be followed by Ahmet Ogras from 30 June 2017 to 30 June 2019.

Born in Meknes in Morocco in 1962, Anwar Kbibech is an engineer from the National School of Bridges and Roads (École des Ponts ParisTech) and is currently the leader of a large telecommunications group. He is also President of the Rally of Muslims in France (RMF).

In an interview published on Monday 29 June in the French daily Le Figaro, Anwar Kbibech said that when faced with radicalization and violence,the solution cannot be "only religious but needs the cooperation of economic and political leaders," adding that there’s a need to "invest in social networks to detect radical rhetoric and build an alternative discourse available to young people."
