The Moroccan community in North America starts a petition calling for US and Canadian carriers to launch direct flights to Morocco

Monday, 06 July 2015

The petition on Change.org has so far rounded up around 5,226 signatures in support of the initiative. The campaign aims to reach 100,000 signatures.

In a letter to North American carriers, petitioners have called on United Airlines, American Airlines, Air Canada, US Airways, Air Transat and Delta Airlines to launch direct flights between North America and Morocco.

The current route being almost exclusive to the national Moroccan carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM).

“As you may or may not know, the Moroccan community in specific and other nationalities in general flying to Africa through Morocco don't have the choice but to fly with RAM … We have been suffering terrible services, major delays, lost luggage, total indifference, poor service and extremely expensive prices,” the letter reads.

“There is an urgent and huge demand for such service, and we don’t quite understand why there is no interest from the part of major North American companies to link this destination,” said John Smith, author of the petition

"We pledge to collect at least 100.000 signatures in favor of such action, hoping that US and Canadian Companies will step forward and open the sky for us,” petitioners said in the letter.
