Monday, 20 July 2015

As Ramadan ended, the Conference of Catholic Bishops of Canada (CCCB) has published a brochure to explain Islam to Canadians entitled "Catholics and Muslims in Canada: believers and citizens in society."

The document, which "aims to help Canada's Catholics to better understand their Muslim neighbors," presents "in the first part, the origins of Islam, its main current trends and its similarities and its differences from Christianity.

The second part provides an overview of the history and the current state of interreligious dialogue between Catholics and Muslims, and concludes with some suggestions on what everyone can do to contribute to this dialogue, "said Mr. Paul-André Durocher , President of the CCCB.

This booklet is part of a series of publications as "a dialogue within the Church", the other two are entitled "Catholic ecumenism" and "towards the restoration of unity among Christians."
