Mr. Abdellah Boussouf: "The CCME is ready to put its experience at the service of national institutions"

Mr. Abdellah Boussouf, Secretary General of the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME) held on Monday, August 3 at the Council headquarters in Rabat, a press conference to share the news of the CCME, its actions and balance sheet.

This briefing aims to expose to the media the cumulative experience of the CCME promoted by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in his speech on the occasion of the feast of the throne where the sovereign insisted in particular on "the need to rely on the experience and know-how accumulated by the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad".

"His Majesty has again expressed his deep attachment to the Moroccans of the world," said Mr. Boussouf adding that it is now imperative for national institutions to coordinate their actions in order to "develop a national strategy on migration with regards to the expectations and current challenges ".

In this regard, Mr. Boussouf affirmed that Morocco is among the few countries that devote a substantial budget to the issue of immigration: "Morocco allocates nearly one billion dirhams to the institutions responsible for immigration, of which 49 million dirhams goes to the CCME. This represents nearly 10% of the budget of the Ministry of Moroccans living abroad and migration affairs and nearly 25% of the budget of the Hassan II Foundation. "

Mr. Boussouf further stated that "the CCME is prepared to make available to the Government or any national institution the fruit of its experience since its creation in 2007: our priority is to make available to the Moroccans from here and overseas, a sound scientific knowledge."

In this sense, the General Secretary of the CCME said that before "the creation of CCME, the Moroccan library had some ten books on immigration, whereas since 2007, the CCME has published over 140 titles in its various aspects, namely gender, worship, and teaching of the mother tongue ...”.

The publications of the Council, bearing a strong and unprecedented scientific knowledge also provide recommendations on immigration, which can act as advisory opinions to develop an integrated national strategy.

Thus, in order to "participate in the globalization of the Moroccan culture and values ​​of tolerance, the CCME promotes on the occasion of the Casablanca Book Fair, Moroccan authors in the languages ​​of the world immigration, "said Mr. Boussouf, stating that" the CCME has enriched the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco (BNRM) with over 3000 publications on immigration. "

Moroccan universities have also received support from the CCME which funded Masters and PhD cycles on immigration in different Moroccan faculties. Since its inception, the CCME has also undertaken several actions in partnership with civil society: "4 festivals on cinema and immigration and more than 15 festivals in different cities of Morocco."

The General Secretary of the CCME has also assured that the Council is on a continuous intellectual production "at the end of September 2015, a book on the memory of the Moroccan immigration across the world will be released to complement various works on the history of immigration, including the memory of Moroccans in the Netherlands ..."

As to the question of the representativeness of overseas Moroccans in national institutions, Mr. Boussouf reiterated the need to "implement the provisions of the Constitution relating to the integration of the representatives of Moroccans abroad in consultative institutions and governance bodies governance ".

To conclude, Mr. Abdellah Boussouf prompted to make of the Moroccans abroad a national priority for all Moroccan institutions, especially since according to statistics, they represent nearly 10% of the Moroccan population and their contributions make up more than 10% of the national GDP. "
