Major police reshuffle to take place in Moroccan embassies

Tuesday, 25 August 2015

A broad movement is rumored to soon affect the position of police officers in different Moroccan diplomatic representations abroad, according to sources in the Interior Ministry.

Initially, these changes concern the elements of the police who have spent long years in Moroccan embassies in the Gulf countries, say sources of the daily Akhbar Al Yaoum.

The head of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) Abdellatif Hammouchi discovered that some police officers have stayed too long in their positions in Moroccan embassies of Arab countries, mainly the United Arab Emirates, where some agents have spent sometimes decades.

In recent years, several policemen had denounced the "cronyism" and "interventions" in the appointment of police officers assigned to these highly sought after positions in the DGNS.
