Transit Operation: A strong wave of MRE will be likely to leave Morocco this weekend

Tuesday, 25 August 2015

Less than three weeks until its due date, the transit operation will go through the critical point of its return phase. Professionals expect a significant peak at the end of this week and hope the MRE leave in order.

"The days of great tension will certainly be Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday," says Mr. Chrigui, CEO of Intershipping. This is also provided for other operators.

Everyone is on alert. It is expected that the vast majority of MREs that are still in Morocco are returning during the weekend.

According to data from the Spanish Civil Protection, last Sunday only saw the return of 14 096 MRE on Tanger-Algeciras, the busiest line of the operation. On Tarifa-Tangier, they were 5175, whereas 2588 passengers and 858 people respectively commute on-Nador Almeria and Nador-Motril.

The operators also believe that good organization at different ports will better cope with the expected influx this weekend. But port leaders reassure, the formalities of the back stage can take time, between two and three hours, but all the conditions for a comfortable hold are available.
