Religious Coexistence: HM King Mohammed VI, a 'Model for all Worlds' Leaders’ (ASF President)

HM King Mohammed VI represents a model not only for the leaders of the region but for the whole world, notably because of the laudable actions that the Sovereign has undertaken for the restoration of cemeteries and other Jewish sites throughout the Kingdom, said, Thursday 30 April 2017in New York, President of the American Sephardic Federation (ASF), David Dangoor.

"HM the King has constantly endeavored to set out the way and is therefore a model for leaders not only in the region, but throughout the world," Dangoor told MAP. He also expressed satisfaction with the fact that the Sovereign has given his instructions for the restoration of Jewish cemeteries and other sites that preserve the Jewish heritage throughout the Kingdom.

The President of the ASF was speaking on the sidelines of the award ceremony of the "Pomgranate Award for Lifetime Achievement" to HM the King’s advisor, André Azoulay, on the occasion of the 20th edition of the Sephardic Jewish Film Festival, which is celebrating this year the Moroccan culture and the coexistence between Muslims and Jews.

According to Dangoor, "what Morocco has achieved in terms of coexistence, recognition of history and generosity of spirit is simply incomparable."

Mr Azoulay received the award "in recognition of his outstanding work" aimed at deepening the Islam-Judaism relationship, consolidating inter-religious dialogue, and promoting coexistence and exchanges between different spiritualities," said the ASF.
