France: The French national railway Company condemned for discrimination against Moroccan workers

Wednesday, 31 January 2018

The National French railway company was sentenced on appeal on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, for discrimination against 848 Moroccan railway workers (« Chibanis ») pursuing the French rail operator after more than 12 years of procedure.

The "Chibanis" claimed 628 million euros for diverse discriminatory decisions of the company (career, retirement, training, access to healthcare, health, etc…).

These workers, most of them Moroccans, were hired between 1970 and 1983 by SNCF, mostly as contract workers, and did not benefit from the more favorable"status" of European railway workers.
