Release of the book "Belgica Biladi" by the publisher Éditions de l'Université de Bruxelles

Belgica Biladi (Belgium, my homeland) recently published by Editions de l'Université de Bruxelles includes authors Ahmed Medhoune, Andrea Rea, Christophe Sokal and Fatima Zibouh.

The book is a deep dive into the history of Moroccan migration to Belgium. Particularly following the signing in 1964 of the bilateral Moroccan-Belgian agreement to send Moroccan workers to Belgium, under which they emigrated to work in the country's industrial sectors.

‘’Three, or even four generations later, they have become active cross-border citizens. From culture to politics, sports to economics, their presence is enriched by their contributions and the questions they raise. Today it makes Belgium a unique laboratory for the intercultural societies of the future', says the book's introduction.

"Belgica Biladi" contains the contributions of over twenty experts, along with the personal stories of Moroccan-belgians, and constitutes a rich source of knowledge on the Moroccan community in Belgium

The publisher's introduction notes :"Telling a Belgian-Moroccan human story means reminding the reader about events, examining changing patterns and circumstances, and above all speaking about people's lives, experiences, achievements and dreams, from tajine to chips".
