Mexico: An exhibition by Aziza Alaoui to celebrate Independence Day

Monday, 17 November 2014

To celebrate Independence Day, The Embassy of Morocco in Mexico organized an exhibition of Moroccan painter Aziza Alaoui taking place from November 15 to December 15, 2014 in Mexico City.

"The idea behind this work of art was born from a desire to transform the photographs of everyday and ephemeral scenes shot at the wheel when the rain falls into plastic art paintings chronicling a special moment," said the artist the MAP.

Born in 1966 in Morocco to a Moroccan father and a German mother, Aziza Alaoui has been living in Mexico since 1992. Her works of art have been exhibited in Dubai, Madrid, Berlin, and Morocco, where she participated in 2011 in the exhibition "Resonances, Moroccan artists of the world", organized by the Council of the Moroccan community Abroad (CCME).

She recently took part to an exhibition at the Mohammed VI museum of modern and contemporary art in Rabat, which includes various paintings and sculptures of Moroccan artists in the period between 1914 and 2014.
