Belgium: 11 Moroccan immigrants of the first generation decorated.

Anis Birou, Minister for Moroccans living abroad, presented on Friday, 11 medals and a diploma of recognition to 11 Molenbeek originally from Morocco, who arrived in the 60's, as a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Moroccan immigration.

The event was marked by the presence of the mayor of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, Francoise Schepsmans.

"I find it interesting that the minister has moved in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, in order to celebrate the common history for the Moroccan migration", she said during the honors' delivery. The aldermen and the Ambassador of Morocco in Belgium were also invited to the ceremony.

During the celebration, Anis Birou announced the launch of various projects targeting "youth" in Brussels municipality in the areas of education and training, in a similar approach of what has already been done in Spain or Italy.

"Molenbeek already has two twinning with cities in Morocco," said the mayor on the sidelines of the commemoration.
