Conference in Rabat on the implementation of the family code for immigrants

The Moroccan Association for Studies and Research on Migration (AMERM), in partnership with the Rabat-Agdal Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social sciences will organize on Novembe,28-29, 2014 an international symposium on "Migration and family code: what assessment after 10 years of legal practice?

The meeting's main objective is the "assessment of judicial practices by the laws of the host country and that of origin and the identification of progress made by the adoption of the Family Code in 2004, it also analyses the barriers that faces the reception of this code by the foreign legal order to better meet the needs and expectations of Moroccan immigrant Muslim families, "said a statement from the AMERM.

Researchers and practitioners of international private law (judges, lawyers, notaries, and civil registration officers) will discuss various issues, including the connection to the national law, the technique of conflict of law, respect for law and order, exequatur.

The meeting is also "an opportunity to reflect further on the reception of the Moroccan Family Code by the legal order of the host countries, including European countries where over 80% of the Moroccan community is."
