Moroccan Doctors, Second Foreign Physicians Working in French Hospitals

Monday, 01 December 2014

The National Medical Board of France (CNOM) has released a new study on migration flows and trajectories of physicians.

The study has found that Moroccans make 11, 5% of foreign-born physicians who are working in French hospitals and medical institutions.

Algeria came in first place (25%) followed by Morocco (11, 5 %) and Tunisia (7, 1%).

The Maghreb countries top the list of countries with most physicians in France with 43, 6%. This is due to historical and geopolitical ties, explains the study.

The same source added that 54 168 physicians who practice the profession in French hospitals were born outside France. This figure represents 19, 6% of the total number of physicians registered in the CNOM.

Romania was ranked the country from the European Union with the most physicians working in France.
