Registration on the electoral lists: Impressive turnout of the Moroccan community in Egypt

Thursday, 22 January 2015

The office installed in the British Embassy in Cairo for the registration operation on the electoral lists was highly attended by members of the Moroccan community in Egypt since the operation began last December.

As part of the preparations for the next general election, a registration office within the British Embassy in Cairo was built to enable Moroccan nationals settled in Egypt, amounting to nearly 10,000 people to participate in this operation that will continue until 19 February, according to Mizri Mohamed, consular advisor to the Moroccan diplomatic representation in the Egyptian capital.

He, at the same time, called on all Moroccans residing in Egypt not registered on the electoral lists to present their applications to the office.

For his part, the President of the Social League of the Moroccan community in Egypt, Najat Mummu, said that inclusion on the electoral roll is a "national duty" that requires the involvement of all in order to contribute to the process of the socio-economic development of the Kingdom.

The Interior Ministry announced last December 22 the start of the registration operation on the electoral lists under the exceptional revision of the general electoral lists, noting that this operation relates Moroccans both inside the country and abroad.
