Diaspora Management: The CCME and the Ministry of Ivorians Abroad determined to strengthen their cooperation

Thursday, 22 January 2015

The Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME) and the Department of African integration and Ivoirians Abroad are determined to strengthen their cooperation in Diaspora management.

The CCME and the Ivorian Ministry, which have maintained a close cooperation for two years, have taken a step forward in their partnership in the sense that the Council will assist the Ivorian partner in the establishment of a High Council of Ivorians abroad and the organization of the first Forum of the Ivorian Diaspora.

The assistance of the Council at its Ivorian partner operates under an agreement signed Tuesday in Marrakech, related to Diaspora management, at a ceremony chaired by King Mohammed VI and the President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, His Excellency Mr. Alassane Dramane Ouattara.

Under the terms of the agreement, signed by Messrs. Boussouf Abdellah, Secretary General of the CCME and Ally Coulibaly, Minister of African Integration and Ivorians abroad, a technical commission for the monitoring and implementation will be set up shortly.

The implementation of other potential actions will be defined by specific agreements between the two institutions.

The implementation of this agreement, however, remains the prelude to a more ambitious action by the CCME which consists in the construction of a network of institutions involved in the migration field of all the countries of West Africa including Mali and Senegal.
