Violence in the history of Morocco

The Moroccan Association for Historical Research (AMRH) in partnership with the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME), have revealed to the public the work of their collaboration in the form of a book that brings together the recommendations issued in study days on "Violence in the history of Morocco", which were held from 14 to 16 November 2013, at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in Rabat.

Times are not yet for calm in the Arab world as it’s the scene of continuous clashes and geostrategic issues give an international dimension to these conflicts. Can we speak of failure of the Arab Spring and if so, how can we explain it?

Moroccan journalist Nabil Driouch came to present in the pavilion of the CCME his book " Careful neighboring” on the Moroccan-Spanish relations from the death of Hassan II to the abdication of Juan Carlos which highlights the views Moroccan officials have on the various cases over the eventful history of the two countries.

The CCME organized a round table discussion on "Managing cultural diversity in the immigration areas" moderated by Mustapha Mourabit, research professor and former director of Al Jazeera Center for Studies, with the participation of prominent figures including Khalid Hajji, researcher and secretary general of the European Centre for the Moroccan ulemas (MOSC) Leon Buskens, anthropologist and law specialist in Muslim societies and Abderrahmane Aisati, professor at the University of Tilburg (Netherlands).

"Islam and Muslims in Europe: issues and challenges of identity" was the theme of the round table organized by the CCME in the sixth day of the Casablanca Book Fair which the participation of identity issues and worship specialists namely; Id Yassin Rashid, an expert in sociology, anthropology and religious studies, Tarek Oubrou, writer and Franco-Moroccan imam, Mohamed Ajouaou, professor at the Free University of Amsterdam. The Interventions of this panel were moderated by Said Aalla, president of the Grand Mosque of Strasbourg.

The pavilion of the CCME hosted on this fifth day of the Casablanca Book Fair, a symposium on "Moroccan Journalists of the world: the test of citizen communication" moderated by journalist Said Soulami with the participation of Mohammed Alami , Aljazeera correspondent in the United States Najib Benchrif, one of the founders of the satellite channel "Al Arabiya" Jamila Atif, Moroccan journalist in Russia and Mustapha Tossa journalist and specialist on  the Arab World based in Paris.

Debate: Moroccans in the Netherlands

Moroccans in the Netherlands is a very special meeting as stated by Mr. Abdelmjid Kaddouri, a Moroccan historian because it includes both a Dutchman in the person of Leon Buskens, professor at the University of Leiden (Netherlands) and Osama Cherribi, Moroccan sociology professor who lived in the Netherlands and is now living in the US.

"Moroccan Immigration in Spain" is the opportunity to present the result of the partnership between the CCME and the news website Hespress taking the form of a compilation of 41 profiles of Moroccans living in Spain who managed to break the stereotype on migrants by highlighting their unique stories.

The Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME) presented its "Atlas of Moroccan emigration", on the occasion of the 21th edition of the International Publishing and Book Fair (SIEL) in Casablanca.
