Amsterdam (Map)– Morocco topped the favorite travel destinations for Dutch tourists, according to a survey conducted by Dutch leading travel website, Riksja Travel.
Morocco came ahead of Ecuador and Thailand in the survey that included around 14,000 participants.
The twelve-question survey aimed at unveiling the choices and expectations of Dutch travelers. The website noted that Morocco stands as an attractive travel destination with its rich and diversified offer and its proximity to Europe.
According to figures released by the Moroccan tourism office (ONMT), around 560,000 Dutch tourists visited Morocco in 2013, that is a 3.7% rise compared to 2012. A rate of 41% of Dutch tourists visited Marrakech, followed by Agadir with 31% and Essaouira 23%.
