Sokoto — Sokoto State Comptroller of Immigration Service, Alhaji Yunusa Aliyu, yesterday warned foreigners in the state to steer clear of Nigerian politics.
This was contained in statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Shehu Muhammad Marafa, after a meeting with leaders of foreigners in the state. He also stressed the need for them to remain law abiding.
"The essence of the meeting is to draw their attention to the ongoing political happenings and on the need to steer clear of it," he stated.
According to the statement, spokesman of the group, a leader from Niger Republic, expressed appreciation to the comptroller for the meeting and assured that they would pass the message to all their members.
The Nigerian Immigration Service in the state recently seized 452 permanent and temporary voters' cards, national identity cards as well as birth certificates from some foreigners.
