Rabat: Mr Abdellah Boussouf at the African Migration Observatory

Friday, 29 March 2024

Mr Abdellah Boussouf, Secretary General of the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME) was received, Wednesday 28 March 2024, by Ms Namira Negm, Director of the African Migration Observatory.

During the meeting, Mr Boussouf outlined the different work areas in which the Council is engaged to monitor and improve the understanding of Moroccan migration. He also presented a series of studies conducted by the CCME, relating to youth and social issues such as Islamophobia and vulnerable groups in communities, as well as evaluating public policy on migration.

Both parties agreed to further develop discussions and find ways for working together on future studies on the development of immigration in Africa and Europe, and to work towards benefiting from the experience of Moroccan communities in terms of integration and transferring it to other African countries.

It is worth noting that the African Migration Observatory was established in January 2018 at the proposal of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, leader on the issue of migration in Africa, at the thirtieth summit of the African Union.

The observatory is set to provide the African continent with an effective tool that will enable it to meet its real and urgent needs in terms of migration and to better understand and control the migration phenomenon, as well as to develop the process of collecting and exchanging information between African countries.
