The Declaration was co-signed by the Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, and the Secretary of State to the German Federal Ministry of Interior, Juliane Seifert.

The Minister explained that the Declaration of Intent, which specifically concerns the Moroccan community living in Germany as well as Islamic circles in that country, includes a section dealing with coordination and consultation on the training of religious leaders.

Mrs Seifert, for her part, expressed her country's desire to further develop its cooperation with the Kingdom, particularly in the field of training Imams, saying that the signing of this Declaration of Intent represents an important step towards strengthening the ties between the two countries.

Before signing the protocol, Mr Toufiq had held talks with Mrs Seifert on a range of subjects of common interest and on ways of strengthening cooperation in the religious sphere.
