In a statement quoted by the Moroccan Press Agency (MAP), the Consul General of Morocco in Montreal, Ms Soria Jabri, pointed out that the new headquarters, designed in both modern and traditional styles, will provide the Moroccan community with a high-quality setting for its services, as well as a meeting place for members of the community.
The Moroccan diplomat said that His Majesty King Mohammed VI pays great attention to the Moroccans living abroad. She referred in this respect to His Majesty's high instructions aimed at restructuring the institutional framework for managing the Moroccans living abroad.
Ms Soria Jabri added that the new Consulate also intends to simplify administrative and consular procedures for Moroccans living abroad. The new headquarters will, for their part, enable certain procedures to be carried out digitally via high-tech in order to improve the quality of its services.
Mr. Fouad Kadmiri, the Director of Consular and Social Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, outlined the efforts made to enhance consular services in Canada, notably through the opening of a Consulate General of the Kingdom in the City of Toronto in 2021, stressing that the new Consulate offers adequate space for providing services meeting the needs of Moroccans living in Canada.
Mr. Mohamed El Mahdi Kaouane, the Deputy “chargé d'affaires” at the Moroccan Embassy in Canada, stressed Morocco's unwavering commitment to the interests of its citizens living abroad, and the strong ties that Moroccans maintain with their country of origin.
Ms Rachel Bendian, Canada's Federal Minister of Official Languages and Minister Delegate, praised the dynamism of Moroccans living in Montreal. She said the Moroccan community was very involved in the economic and cultural life of the city.
Ms Bendiane added she was proud of her Moroccan origins before highlighting the Moroccan community's contribution to the dynamism of the city of Montreal and Canada's overall prosperity.
